Green Juice from a Blender in 5 easy Steps

Green Juice from a Blender in 5 easy Steps

For the past few weeks I have been drinking green juice first thing in the morning.

This isn’t my first time experimenting with green juice. I have a juicer and used to use it daily but the cleanup started to be too much. Being in a small apartment, cleanup has to be hassle free. I started googling green juice recipes and found a few on making it in a blender. A juicer separates the fibre from the rest of the fruit or vegetables where a blender processes the whole fruit or vegetable, including the fibre. The secret to this process is using a cheesecloth to separate the fibre from the juice.

I drink 1 cup, or 8 fl oz. first thing every morning and mix that with collagen peptides. The collagen requires 8 fl.oz of liquid. The Collagen contains 18g of protein, that with the greens gives me a really good boost of energy to start the day.

Tips

  • Keep remaining juice in covered container in the fridge for up to 5 days - I like to make a new batch every three days for maximum freshness

  • I get three cups of juice in each batch (lasts 3 days)

  • Squeeze cheese cloth in colander to squeeze out all excess juice, this is key to getting the most juice - this will help you get at least an extra cup of juice.

  • I ordered this cheesecloth from Amazon, its super thin which helped drain more juice

  • Sometimes I’ll use extra celery and only one apple to reduce some of the sugar

  • I’ll also sometimes substitute coconut water for plain water to add a little additional sweetness - and coconut water just makes me feel super hydrated

I went a couple days without the juice and noticed a big difference in my overall mood and energy level. I would love to know what you think! If you have any ideas on how to make the juice even better, let me know in the comments!
